From the highlands of Costa Rica we bring you this fruit-forward, deliciously sweet cup of caffeinated goodness. This coffee is a community project from the San Lorenzo village - a micro-zone within the famous Tarrazú region. The villagers of San Lorenzo have been growing coffee for more than 90 years in a location that is blessed with the ideal climate and soil conditions for growing outstanding coffees.
The coffee has been planted and harvested by the San Lorenzo village members of the cooperative Coope Tarrazú RL. The cooperative was established in 1970 and has become a major contributor to the economic development in Tarrazú. Coope Tarrazu RL controls the entire production process, from picking the cherry through the milling, drying, and exporting procedures, thereby assuring consistent supervision during the coffee production. Their quality standards are replicated lot after lot, year after year, and that enables them to deliver their excellent quality coffee to the specialty market.
The co-operative provides nurseries, agronomy support and training and a whole host of services. Coffee pulp is converted into organic fertiliser, coffee trees are given to farmers to maintain crop health, and power for the office is generated from solar panels.
