We’re thrilled to bring back one of our favourites from 2023—this standout coffee from Bulambuli, Uganda, named Zinule after a native bird in the local Lugisu dialect. It’s a true representation of the region’s potential and character.
The coffee is produced by a dedicated network of 200–400 smallholder farmers, each cultivating less than a hectare of land. These farms, often family-run, are nestled in parishes made up of just a few hundred people. The cherries are handpicked and delivered to the Bulambuli Washing Station, where meticulous care is taken through every step—from sorting to pulping or drying.
The region's high altitudes are perfect for growing vibrant, complex coffees. SL14, SL28, and SL34 varietals, similar to those found in Kenya—flourish here, bringing a familiar structure with a distinctly Ugandan twist.We pay premiums directly to farmers to help build financial security and invest in their communities. The Ugandan specialty coffee scene is just getting started—and we're excited to be part of its journey.
