Background:
The story of Wush Wush as a coffee variety is very similar to the story of the Gesha: Wushwush is a village in the Keffa (or Kaffa) province of Ethiopia, famous for its exceptionally high-quality coffee. As in Ethiopia in general, the local coffee crop is made up of indigenous heirloom varieties. About 30 years ago, botanists researching varieties resistant to the plant disease called coffee leaf rust selected a specimen from the area around Wushwush, planted it in South America and as they say, the rest is history.
Introducing Wush Wush: as some may say it’s the new Gesha. Planted in the right environment and microclimate, Wush Wush can boast a unique cup profile full of overripe tropical fruits. Nowadays, Wush Wush is becoming famous in Colombia, but let’s go back to its birthplace and taste its origin. Our current coffee is a heirloom mix from the original Wushwush growing area, processed as sundried natural at the Michiti processing station.
