The name \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLas Nubes\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, meaning “The Clouds”, reflects the farm’s lofty elevation and frequent mist. At 1,675 metres above sea level, the estate sits at the foot of Santa Ana Volcano, bordering Los Volcanes National Park and Cerro Verde.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe farm has been in the Batlle family since Isidro Batlle purchased it in the 1920s. His passion for high-elevation coffee has continued through the generations, with careful farming practices helping to establish Las Nubes as one of El Salvador’s most respected coffee estates.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe volcanic landscape plays an important role too. After a major eruption in 2006, a thick layer of highly acidic volcanic ash settled across the land, creating an exceptionally fertile growing environment. Rather than relying on chemical treatments, the farm embraced organic farming and is now organically certified, as well as Rainforest Alliance certified.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe region is particularly famous for its heritage Bourbon trees, some of which have been producing coffee for more than 80 years. Alongside Bourbon, Las Nubes grows Caturra and the celebrated Pacamara variety.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDuring harvest, from January to April, carefully selected cherries are brought to the farm’s own mill in nearby Chalchuapa. Here, quality is closely monitored from start to finish.
